Feeding Therapy Services

Feeding Therapy For All

At Sprouts, sessions take place where feeding naturally happens—in the home. Services are creatively tailored to each individual’s unique needs and include weekly in-person sessions, virtual education, and optional supplemental services.

We can assist with feeding across the lifespan-from early feeding such as starting solids, expanding the variety of foods accepted by picky eaters, providing sensory-based exposure techniques, working on developing oral motor skills, and providing interventions to ease anxiety with feeding and mealtimes. We believe feeding is creative, personal, and vital for all. We work with all kinds of folks, including those with diagnoses such as autism, ADHD, ARFID, sensory processing disorder, failure to thrive, and developmental delays.

Additionally, we provide supplemental services that will support feeding progress including sensory integration therapy, lifestyle coaching, and nervous system regulation via The Safe and Sound Protocol.

In-person Sessions

Our weekly, hands-on, in-person sessions provide the foundational skills needed to support meaningful and lasting progress in feeding. These sessions are personalized and goal-driven, with a focus on developing areas such as increasing food acceptance, developing oral motor skills, and reducing anxiety around mealtimes. Working directly with real food, we have the opportunity to explore, experiment, create, and learn in a way that feels natural and engaging.

Each session is rooted in a strengths-based approach that celebrates progress, builds confidence, and honors the unique needs of every individual. We believe that feeding success begins with connection—so we prioritize building trust and creating a sense of safety before introducing new challenges.

A low-pressure environment encourages curiosity versus compliance. We focus on building comfort and familiarity with food through exposure, interaction, and guided support.

Virtual Education

Our monthly virtual education sessions are designed to provide practical, evidence-based information related to feeding development and therapy strategies.

Each session focuses on specific topics such as sensory feeding issues, meal planning, nutrition basics, and providing accessible tools and resources that complement the work done in individual therapy sessions.

These information sessions also serve as a bridge between weekly sessions and everyday life. By helping you understand the “why” behind certain strategies, we support greater carryover of feeding gains. Sessions are interactive, allowing time for questions, discussion, and shared problem-solving.

These sessions can facilitate collaboration with other members of your care team, such as family members and healthcare providers.

The goal is to create consistency, build confidence, and encourage long-term progress.

Supplemental Services

Supplemental therapy approaches can play a powerful role in supporting and accelerating progress in feeding therapy. These complementary approaches help address the underlying systems that influence a person’s relationship with food and mealtimes.

Sensory integration therapy helps individuals process and respond to sensory information more effectively through structured, play-based activities. It is an important complement since many feeding difficulties are rooted in sensory sensitivities.

Lifestyle coaching sessions support developing self-regulation skills, routines, habits, and environments that encourage positive feeding experiences.

Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), is a listening therapy that helps regulate the nervous system. By promoting a state of calm and safety, SSP can support emotional regulation, creating the internal conditions needed for more enjoyable mealtimes.
